Our client a major financial services firm is seeking a temp to possible perm Switchboard Operator.
The hours are 8:30 to 4:30. Must be flexible to work until 5pm when needed to cover an absent employee.
Summary/Purpose of Position:
Handle all calls (external and internal) to the Company"s switchboard and route to the appropriate location (person, department, subsidiary,etc.)
Duties and Responsibilities:
Handle incoming calls to the Company"s main number and determine which person, department or subsidiary to direct the call. Use computer to access directory for names, titles & extensions. Updates directory information with notes provided by supervisor.
Knowledge and Skills:
High School Graduate
Knowledge of basic computer operation
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to multi-task
Well developed listening skills
Ability to translate incomplete information into logical actions
Decision-Making:
Works quickly and decisively in order to efficiently service the client and field force by asking suitable questions
Scope Accountability:
All phone calls received by the Company must be answered courteously, timely and accurately. Any mistake reflects poorly on the Company and gives the caller a bad impression
Communications/ Contacts:
Primary communication is outside callers to the Company. In addition, this position will interact with employees when transferring outside calls
